Innovation in Caregiver Support

The ICS project aims to design and an innovative pilot-methodology to support informal caregivers of autistic people in order to promote a substantial improvement in their quality of life, rest and breathing time and self-determination. The project will be operationalized through the training of informal caregiver support technicians (TACI), up to 12 per implementing country, aged 18-35, who will be able to support caregivers in the main needs identified as priorities. In addition to the theoretical component (25h), the course also includes a practical component (internship – 25h), in which professionals will be able to test the knowledge they have acquired by supporting caregivers who sign up for the pilot project. The high quality of this training will not only guarantee the trust of the informal caregivers who will request the support, but will also ensure that the project meets the highest standards of human rights for people with disabilities and person-centered planning.
